Most people know that New York City has five boroughs, but how many have visited them all? If your only impression of Queens is based on sitcoms like The Nanny and The King of Queens you owe it to yourself to check out sophisticated Long Island City.
Blueprint talked to Blueground’s Interior Design Manager Megan Wright about what makes one of our gorgeous one-bedroom apartments in NYC shine from a design perspective.
“There’s nothing better to balance out a well designed room than an amazing city view. Our bedrooms have some of the best views right from the comfort of your thoughtfully designed bed.”
Our designers lay out hundreds of new Blueground apartments all over the world each year, and so the team understands how to make the most of a great view! “Each piece in this bedroom, from the throw pillows, to the bed frame, and the placement of the throw blanket are designed with an elevated aesthetic to complement our high-end apartments,” Megan said.
The view of the Manhattan skyline from this Long Island City highrise is unbeatable, but that’s not all this lovely home has to offer. Anyone staying here won’t need to travel far to find adventure! In addition to its convenience — you can reach Manhattan in less than ten minutes on the subway — the surrounding area is known for its international art scene.Long Island City is home to MoMA PS1, the punk rock younger sibling to Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art. This former public school is now an exhibition space for international artists.
Another neighborhood highlight is SculptureCenter, an artist-run space that dates back to 1928. Over the years the gallery has presented the work of hundreds of avant-garde ceramicists and sculptors.
The culinary scene in Long Island City is also worth a mention.
There’s a great mix of fast-casual dining that appeals to the busy residents of the neighborhoood’s high rises. For a special night out, there’s lovely French bistro Tournesol or sleek Cafe Enrique, a regional Mexican restaurant that also serves an excellent weekend brunch.
