Fashion and curvy influencer Scarlett Hao has built her brand around following her inner muse and never being afraid to stand out in a crowd. The Chinese-born activist and entrepreneur has almost 250K Instagram followers and uses her platform to advocate for greater inclusivity in fashion. Blueground had the distinct privilege of hosting Scarlett in one of our furnished Los Angeles apartments.

“I’ve always had a thing for LA,” she told Blueprint. “I moved from LA to NYC five years ago, and planned to stay for 10 years. Once Covid hit I started thinking more about what I want out of life, what kind of weather, if I wanted to own a car, and LA just started to make more sense. In the end, I decided to move back sooner.”

Moving cross-country is always stressful, but having a well-appointed home away from home takes at least some of the pressure off. Scarlett isn’t the first Blueground guest to use one of our all-inclusive apartments as an entry point to a new city. Many of our guests have taken advantage of our flexible lease agreements as they dip their toes into the housing market.

Unbeatable convenience in a tight real estate market

Hao took advantage of Blueground’s flexible lease terms to establish a plush, fully furnished home base for her search for a permanent home in Los Angeles.

All of our move-in ready, turnkey Blueground apartments are outfitted with high-tech extras like SmartTVs and super fast Wi-Fi, as well as luxury linens and basic kitchen supplies like tableware and pots and pans.

“I really loved the location of my Blueground apartment. It’s so close to my old LA office—right on the same street, in fact,” Scarlett said. Before branching out on her own, she worked in PR and social media helping brands tell their stories and reach new audiences. “The apartment itself is beautiful, spacious, and my dog loved it. I was so happy to find the kitchen was stocked with pots and pans and utensils, really everything I needed to cook for myself.”

Exploring West Hollywood

Halo, Scarlett’s distinctly adorable French bulldog, was also a fan of the West Hollywood one-bedroom. “My dog was very happy in this apartment! Everyone was so friendly to Halo, and there were dog treats everywhere around the neighborhood, too. It’s not like NYC where you can’t bring your dog into a coffee shop.”

West Hollywood, one of the city’s coolest and most dynamic neighborhoods, has a lot to offer newcomers to LA.

“There are so many great spots right by my apartment—Urth Caffé, and the Alfred’s coffee location on Melrose,” Scarlett told Blueprint. “The shopping on Melrose is also amazing, and there’s Venice Beach, the Santa Monica Pier, and of course Malibu. I was busy house hunting this month, but I really wanted to take a road trip to Joshua Tree or Palm Springs.”

Would Scarlett recommend a Blueground apartment to a friend? Undoubtedly. “I like Blueground because everything was so organized. The app was easy to use and I liked knowing there was someone I could contact if I had a problem,” she said.
