Whether you’re a jogger, a birdwatcher, an avid picknicker, or just someone who likes to get a breath of fresh air every day, living near a major urban park is a quality of life upgrade. Blueground’s local experts make sure that our move-in ready apartments are located in each city’s most vibrant neighborhoods so that our guests have the best possible experience on the ground. Blueground offers fully-furnished, equipped and serviced apartments in some of the world's most sought after cities. Here’s a look at some notable greenspaces—and nearby Blueground apartments—in Chicago, Istanbul, London, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Chicago

Grant Park—named for former president Ulysses S. Grant—encompasses 319 acres (1.3 square kilometers) along Lake Michigan. The downtown park has earned the nickname “Chicago’s front yard,” a nod to its popularity for massive gatherings as much as its size.

Historic Grant Park has hosted everything from Abraham Lincoln’s funeral procession to the annual Taste of Chicago food festival to Barack Obama’s 2008 election night victory speech. The vast greenspace is home to notable museums like the Adler Planetarium and the Art Institute of Chicago, indoor and outdoor performing arts spaces, and gardens and monuments.

All of Blueground’s Chicago apartments in the Gold Coast and Loop neighborhoods (including the West and South Loop) are an easy walk to Grant Park.

Istanbul

One of the city’s largest greenspaces, Yıldız Park is located in Istanbul’s Bestikas district. The 25-acre (just over 100,000 square-meter) park was carved out of the grounds of Yıldız Palace and is filled with flowers, plants, and trees from around the world. It’s the perfect place to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it at your leisure in a quiet spot overlooking the Bosphorous.

Yıldız Park is accessible by public transportation from any of Blueground’s furnished Istanbul apartments and an easy walk from any of our turnkey homes in the coveted Besiktas neighborhood.

London

Sprawling, 350-acre (1.4 square-kilometer) Hyde Park, the largest of London’s so-called royal parks and the former hunting grounds of King Henry VIII, is connected to the equally impressive 275-acre (1.1 square-kilometer) Kensington Gardens, once the private gardens of Kensington Palace.

There are cultivated gardens throughout both parks as well as notable landmarks like the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain and the Hyde Park Holocaust Memorial. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are set in central London, making it easy to find time to relax in nature during the workweek or to make a day of it on the weekend by renting a rowboat and going for a leisurely paddle around the Serpentine.

Want to live near Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens? Blueground’s move-in ready apartments in Bayswater, Knightsbridge, Mayfair, and South Kensington are all steps away from one of the two parks.

New York City

Manhattan’s 843-acre (3.4-kilometer) Central Park was laid out in the 1850s by noted landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. The vast greenspace stretches from Midtown’s Columbus Circle all the way north into Harlem, with meandering paths that will make you forget you’re in the middle of the largest city in the U.S.

The park hosts concerts and dramatic performances in spring and summer, and you can also rent a bicycle or a rowboat to explore beyond the park’s many walking paths. Popular spots include the Wollman Rink, where you can strap on a pair of ice skates in winter, the Central Park Zoo, and the Victorian Era Central Park Carousel.

Many of Blueground’s fully furnished New York City apartments are just steps away from Central Park. Our beautiful turnkey homes on the Upper East Side and Upper West Side are all located within a few minutes’ walk of the park’s borders.

San Francisco Bay Area

Redwood City’s 1,985 acre (8 square-kilometer) Bair Island Wildlife Ecological Reserve, established in 1997, is a nature lover’s paradise. The sprawling marshland is perfect for a long hike, and birdwatchers can rent kayaks at the Bair Island Aquatic Center to get up close and personal with brown pelicans, blue herons, cormorants, ducks, and even red-tailed hawks.

Blueground’s turnkey apartments in Redwood City and San Carlos offer easy access to Bair Island, and it’s an easy distance from our furnished homes in San Francisco and Palo Alto.
